This is one of the BEST books I have read! For a control-freak like myself, this helps you obtain as much control as you can over a process that is really out of your hands. This is the one source that really explained my cycle, when it is possible to get pregnant and simple things I can do to increase my fertility.

The Business of Being Born
I watched this with a friend when she was thinking about getting pregnant - and I just wanted to get engaged! It's been a while since then, but this is a really good source of information on midwives, doulas and intervention-free childbirth. I'm not advocating any one way to give birth, but if you are even thinking of doing it any other way than medicated/epidural, check this out. |

So, when I said I really like to research, I really meant it! I know this is jumping the gun - seeing as I read it about a year before we even talked about getting pregnant - but I saw the book on Amazon and was intrigued. It took me a week to name my two cats. I just can't bring home a baby with no name! This makes the naming process really interesting and gives you interesting information to think about when putting together a family of names. There's an updated edition that I might buy when I'm actually preggers!

What can I even say... I think Amy and I would be friends in real life? And if she ever saw my teeny blog, I'd probably be embarrassed by that statement, as I've never commented on her blog, or interacted with her in any other way outside of liking Facebook posts. Her "Is It Safe" lists have kept me sane when I worry about what foods I have to give up or I hear something else that will kill me and/or baby (ahem, What to Expect...). Plus, she has a great registry "list" - in that she suggests general items as well as certain brands that are awesome. And I am totally looking forward to using her Pregnancy Calendar!

Pregnancy/Baby "Research"
I'm a big planner, and probably a bit of a control freak, so I like to do my research. I researched the best way to raise kittens, so I've DEFINITELY done a lot of research on pregnancy, babies and child rearing. These are the books, movies and blogs I've read or watched and LOVED!
